Cordoba city is the second most important city in Argentina and the largest city located in the central part of the country.
The city have been explored by thousands of tourists from all over the planet because of its amazing history and sensational scenary. PEOPLE
The "Cordobeses" people are very friendly towards the eager traveler and they will make you feel at home while you explore the history and magic of the area.
Cordoba is fully prepare to receive tourism. Tourism is one of the main industries of the province.
Cordoba is well known for its Universities. The student population (from all over the country and the continent) amounts over 10% of total population. That is why it is called "La Docta".
Most of the student live in "Nueva Cordoba" neighborhood (see Cordoba neighborhoods), which is full of young people, clubs, bars and strolls.

- El fútbol (soccer. Most important teams of Cordoba soccer: Talleres, Belgrano, Instituto, Racing de Nueva Italia)
- La tonada cordobesa (cordobes accent. It is different from all other Argentine accents and it is known for being funny, joyful and particular)
- Humor (Cordoba has a particular sense of humor and hilarious comediants that are famous all over the country. Well known cordobeses comediants are: El Negro Alvarez, Cacho Buenaventura, El Flaco Pailos)

MUSEUMS
PALACIO FERREYRA
Avenue Hipólito Yrigoyen #551
In October of 2007 the Superior Fine Arts Museum “Palacio Ferreyra” was inaugurated. It was a renovation project of a traditional mansion located in front of the Plaza España in the City of Cordoba.
The new museum, with a main entrance more than 20 meters high consists of three floors, a basement and a total of 12 rooms housing more than 500 works of art.
Visitors from all corners of the globe who come to visit have the option of:

The Palace which was constructed in 1916 has been renovated and given a new purpose: an exposition space dedicated to the artistic heritages of Cordoba. Some of the artists whose work is on display are: Gonzaga Cony, Genaro Pérez, Caraffa, Gómez Clara, Octavio Pinto, Cardeñosa, Malanca, Butler, Soneira, Tessandori, Cerrito, Peiteado, Collivadino, Fader, Pettoruti, Curatella Manes, Spilimbergo, Castagnino, Forte, Supisiche, Courbet, Sorolla, Picasso and Goya, among others.
Emilio Caraffa Museum
Avenue Hipólito Yrigoyen #651. Built in 1916 in the neo-classical style, this museum is one of the most important artistic centers in Cordoba.
Natural Sciences Museum
Avenue Poeta Lugones #395. This renovated building is organized by thematic rooms that allow the visitor to observe the exhibits in an “evolutionary format”. There are also life-sized replicas of prehistoric animals on display.
Monserrat National Preparatory School:
This historical school was founded on 1695 and the building occupies part of the Jesuit block. It is a neocolonial structure that was inspired by the Spanish renaissance, take special note of it's clock tower. It has conserved its splendid cloister and possesses a valuable art gallery.
Virrey Sobremonte's House: This is the most beautifully conserved colonial house and currently serves as the Provincial History museum. Built in 1752 this house was inhabited by Marques de Sobremonte between the years 1784-1796 when he served as governor of the city.
The House of Bishop Mercadillo
On the street Rosario de Santa Fe 39 you can see a small part of what was once the house of Bishop fray Juan Manuel Mercadillo, when he transferred to Cordoba in 1698.
Palace of Justice:
Built in the year 1936 by the architects Jose Hortal and Salvador Godoy, in this structure declared a National Historical Monument you will find in the interior the mausoleum of the once director Dalmasio Velez Sarsfield.
San Martin Theater:
Built in the year 1887, this operating theater has some amazing decorative details of great value, such as mythological statues, lamps, etc. and its acoustic magnification is paralleled with some of the best theatres in the world. Please visit the ticket booth at the entrance to find out about current shows and spectacles that are taking place for you to enjoy.

CHURCHES
Sacred Heart of Jesus (Los Capuchinos) Church
Avenue Buenos Aires #693. This neo-gothic style church was inaugurated in 1933 and transports us back to the medieval era. Its characteristics display a monumental style more than a temple.
Santo Domingo Basilica
In the Virgen's Chamber there are two English flags and Liniers walking cane from the time of the conquistadors and the invasion of 1806.
Company of Jesus Church:
In 1599 the Jesuits established themselves in this area and the Jesuit order built the Chapel, Domestic, and Residence of the Priests Churches. Every church has its own special attributes so please take the extra time to take a good look at the details and distinctions of each one.
Cathedral Church:
This magnificent Colonial-American architectural structure is also declared a National Historical Monument. Its interior is divided into three areas and it was magnificently decorated in the first years of the 20th century under the careful eye of artist Emilio Caraffa. Among its treasures is the silver shrine, built in 1804 and in the atrium rest the remains of Dean Funes, an important priest and writer in Cordoba in the early 1800s.
Convent of the San Francisco Church:
In its neoclassical style, it has one aisle with a renaissance cross and the choir area has a baroque style with indigenous facades and important paintings dating back to the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries. Its construction forms part of the first City Convent.

PROMENADES; STROLLS
The Canal Walkway (La Cañada)
This stream, stemming from the Suquia River brought problems to the citizens of the city since the foundation of Cordoba due to the floods it produced during the rainy months. Now one can enjoy a peaceful stroll under the big green trees at its edges.
BUEN PASTOR – Located at Av. Hipólito Yrigoyen 325 (Between the streets Buenos Aires and San Lorenzo). Located in the Nueva Cordoba neighborhood, it inhabits the building of the same name that once housed the ex-woman’s prison. This project aims to preserve the cultural values of important buildings, revitalizing their energy by injecting a new relationship between architecture and society. Buen Pastor offers many attractive shops, restaurants, bars and cultural activities both inside and outside.
Please take notice of the conserved Chapel and enclosures and how they have transformed – while maintaining their history into one of the most modern-urban works recently installed in Cordoba.
Sarmiento Park - Cordoba Zoo
The park's origin dates back to the year 1911 and there are many things to do and enjoy in this large park. You can take a boat ride around the Crisol Island, enjoy the Health Park with indications of how to practice healthy exercise, tour the Leopoldo Lugones Greek Theatre where musical events take place, and also visit the local Zoo which opened in 1914 and was constructed on the natural landscape of the area.
Astronomic Observatory and National Meteorological Service:
Locate at the street Laprida 854, it was built in the year 1870 and inaugurated on October 24th, 1871.
Botanical Garden
Flower promenade, Palm promenade, urban trees promenade, cactus stroll, orchard, educational room.
Habitats collection: Subtropical Jungle and Native flora promenade.

Fairs and Art Areas in the City of Cordoba
The Paseo de las Artes, the Las Heras Park, the Pasaje Revol Antique Fair, the Taste and Sweet Fair and the Children’s Promenade are just some of the options you have that make up part of the cultural and recreational activities that are available to the residents and visitors of Cordoba.
The city of Cordoba – known as “La Docta” for its university culture and its modern center for international studies offers its visitors much more than quaint streets and historical landscapes. There are infinite options for families and travelers looking to have a memorable stay while enjoying the history, culture, gastronomy and all the entertainment that Cordoba has to offer.
While strolling down the main Canal of the city you come to the corner or the street called Achaval Rodríguez, there you will have the opportunity to visit the Paseo de las Artes, where dozens of artists join together to exhibit and sell their works to the public. It is the largest fair of its kind and occurs on a weekly basis. The surrounding blocks are also full of shops which house antiques dealers and other handmade arts and crafts.
In other parts of the city taking place on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays are other fairs which occur. One is in the Las Heras Park Art Fair which is located on Boulevard Las Heras and another gastronomic fair known as the Tastes and Sweet fair which offers homemade jams, cakes, liquors and other scrumptious delights and is located at Pasaje Revol and the main canal known as “La Cañada”.
