PARA-GLIDING in Cuchi Corral

Near “La Cumbre” is “Cuchi Corral”, a place where people practice para-gliding all year round. The place houses native trees, like molles and quebrachos (2 typical trees from the area).

This place is a natural wonder, once used by the natives for their religious rituals. Cuchi Corral has become one of the most important flying centers in Argentina. Its climatic and orographic conditions are superb, there more than 400 meters of hills over the Rio Pintos valley, with the “sierras grandes” hills to the west and “sierras chicas” hills to the east, making the gliding possibilities some of the best in the region. The flying experts say that the mountains and the sun in the Cuchi Corral, are great thermal generators (ascending hot airflows) that work like fuel for the gliders. The greater the airflows, the higher the gliders can fly.

This place is chosen by the best pilots of the world, who come to Punilla Valley trying to beat records, improve their style or just enjoy the place, the people and the good flying.

But this freedom sensation is not exclusively for professionals. It can be enjoyed by anyone who dares to experience hangliding. In Cuchi Corral there is a Instructors and  professional pilots, who are in charge of taking care of, giving advice and helping everyone who arrive at this place. This staff is also in charge of doing the “baptism flights”, for people who haven’t got previous experience. In these assisted flights, the passenger sit in a comfortable back-chair while the pilot guides the route, making an unforgettable stroll over the Cuchi Corral landscape. Once in the air, the passenger and the pilot enjoy a beautiful experience that lasts between 20 to 30 minutes. It is also possible to do initiation classes.

After the flight, the tourist can visit other towns closet o Cuchi Corral. One of the most recommended is “La Cumbre”, well-known for its excellent variety of hotels, restaurants and entertainment.
Cuchi Corral is known for its para-gliding. It is an amazing and beautiful place where the adventure and freedom of spirit contribute to the man’s most inachiveable dream: to fly.
